Internationalization

A good website is that which is ready to be adapted to different languages and regions without the need of big changes. The use of formats and protocols which are not a barrier for different languages, writing systems, codes and other local conventions, is essential when talking about internationalization in a website.

Internationalization is based on allowing an easy localization for audiences of different cultures, regions or languages in the development of websites. It’s all about techniques and design that make a future work easier, but which also can be of use even if localization is never produced.

We read the world wrong and say that it deceives us. (Rabindranath Tagore)

Internationalization should be planned as a core step within the initial design and development, in spite of being possible as a later part of a re-engineering process.

What do we take into account?

Internationalization evaluation implies:

  • A design and development style that avoids any obstacle to localization or international distribution..
  • Including characteristics which are not used until the localization.
  • Preparing the code to cope with local, regional, language or cultural preferences.
  • Separation of localizable contents from the source code, so that localized alternatives can be chosen through user's international preferences.

How do we measure it?

We evaluate our customer's real need of dealing with an Internationalization strategy, and in an affirmative case we support the implementation of a collection of actions so that the website will be visible in each target country's search engines. This allows worldwide potential customers finding the product or service.

Our Internationalization service includes:

  • I18N audit.
  • Website optimization for International search engines.
  • Design and development techniques and guidelines.
  • Adding to international sectorial directories.
